Submissions anyone?

Wed Jul 1, 2009, 5:02 PM
Hey guys ( I know we just posted a journal yesterday BUT), I just thought I'd remind everyone that, even though we do next to nothing except tell you Phantom Planet News that you've probably already heard, this is still a club and we do still take submissions :)
Note us links to anything Phantom Planety of yours you want featured here, and we'll have it up ASAP. Could get you more comments, faves, and potatoes O'Brien*!

Also, comment here if you think we should start up that whole deviantID contest thing again. We've got more watchers now so maybe things will work out better than they did last time?

Sun Dec 28, 2008, 11:52 AM
Yes, here I am saying: Blah blah blah, contest blah ze blah blah blah. Of course I know at least a few of you simply delete these journals....but wouldn't you like a subscription? Please, we need some participants for our contest. You can check out details by clicking the Current Contest link in the navigation at the bottom of this journal. We haven't gotten one entry yet! Not even one! And we only have one submission, and we need at least a couple more to be able to feature them in a journal (thanks ~cherrypopsicle21411 for submitting).
I hope you all had a very....Phantom Planet-y holiday, :D

Phantom Planet Is Missing...

Sun Dec 14, 2008, 8:42 AM
I know that we are all probably grieving over the fact that Phantom Planet's last show was last night. Let's face it, it's over... for now. But to keep all of the Phantom Planet fans entertained, here are a lot of links to T.V. shows, interviews, and just some things you cannot find on their YouTube account that you can watch.
Phantom Planet's song "Dropped" on the hit T.V. show Chuck Be sure to watch it in the next month. The episode gets deleted on January 13th. The song is played three times, and the first time is at 12 minutes, 22 seconds.
Phantom Planet performing on "Rockville, CA"
Proof that the song "Raise the Dead" was on Gossip Girl. It was the end montage, I believe.
More of Phantom Planet on Gossip Girl in which "Do the Panic" is played. Again, it's just proof, it's not the actual video of the T.V. show.
Phantom Planet interview with the Gossip Girl fansite OMFGG.com
"Big Brat" playing along with a good game of Driv3r.
Phantom Planet's cover of "Our House", which was featured in the movie The Chumscrubber.
Here is the episode of "Sabrina the Teenage With" from the DVD. It says in the credits "Phantom Planet as Themselves" but when the screen fades to black in the beginning, they were supposed to perform, but the DVD version cut out that part.
However, in this second part of the episode, Phantom Planet is briefly mentioned at 4 minutes and 40 seconds.
Phantom Planet interview with Rolling Stone about the movie Bad News Bears. I was unable to find a clip of them in the movie, though.
Phantom Planet's final song. Yes, this was the last song of their first set. In other words, it's like their final song, but not. THis was at the Trabadour in Los Angeles yesterday. Isn't it amazing?

So I know absolutely no one who went to the final Phantom Planet concert, but I do know the details. It was a tour where The Like was headlining. The concert actually started at 8:00 p.m. The address of the Trabadour is 9081 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood. It was also the site of their first ever show back in 1998, I believe. None of their friends could really attend their first show because it was a bar, which meant 21 and over only.
Oh, and for all of you to know, Darren Robinson has confirmed that the music video for "Dropped" will be released.
In other news, there is still some hope that Alex Greenwald will release his new solo album, entitled "This Time It's Personal", which will feature the songs "Ordinary" and "There Is No Life" (There is a technical problem with the link to this video, so just go onto YouTube and search "There Is No Life", and click on the first video there). For now, you can pick up the new Maroon 5 album featuring Sam Farrar either online or in the store nearest you. Keep in mind that it is called "Call & Response" and it's not actually by Maroon 5.
In other, other news, Phantom Planet has said that some time ago, there will be a new album called "Erase the Debt", which could quite possibly be an album focusing on politics.

BABY FARRAR! 3/29/09
So last night, I had a dream, part of which involved the reformation of Phantom Planet. Although I was pretty sure this wasn't true, I figured it was a sign, some PP activity, perhaps- and sure enough! A new MysPace post, and one of the best ones yet.

SAM AND ALEX ON TWITTER +SAM PRODUCES NEW ALBUM! 3/10/09
It hasn't been mentioned on the official website, their MySpace, or even Phantom Planet Online (the greatest fan site in the world). But alas! Alex and Sam are indeed on Twitter, for those of you who did not know (I sure didn't.) Alex: ALECKSU Sam: samfarrar
There you can find some random blurbs and some pics or random stuff, plus one of Alex's bedroom and one of Sam's fat dog.

Also, Sam just produced a new album that is out on iTunes TODAY: Samantha Shelton- Are You Kidding Around?
Check it out! It's good to know that our favourite boys are keeping themselves busy. And of course Darren's MySpace is still up for everyone :)
Until later, it's been ~xx-tokyosweets with Phantom Planet news.

JJAMZ AND FEEDBACK FROM YOU-KNOW-WHO 2/6/09
Hey, all. Flatbush here. I just thought I would let the Phantom Planet fan community here know that Alex is part of another band during the Hiatus, and that you can ask him a question and he is answering. here-- [link]

IN NYC WITH NYLON TV 1-19-09
Sorry, it's been a while since we've updated. I guess there's not gonna be much news, though, for a band that's on hiatus.
HOWEVER. If you haven't checked out phantomplanet.com recently, you might want to do that. A new video back from their last visit to NYC, where Nylon TV got to hang out with them, check out Alex's awesome barking keyboard, and ask them some stuff.
You can find said video here: [link]

Also, Darren's tour with Miniature Tigers has started, and their next show is in Pheonix at the Yucca Tap Room. Get your tickets now! Unless, of course, you're one of the few losers that lives in a stupid place like myself where MT has decided not to come to...hmph.

This is been ~xx-tokyosweets with Phantom Planet news. :D

NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO, YOU SAY? 1-8-09
First of all, happy new year! May 2009 be much better than 2008!
Second, that's right! They have a new YouTube video up! It's very short at only 21 seconds, but it still sums up the feel that you get watching Phantom Planet music videos.
It's Darren riding an amp.
And it includes a definition of Hadouken.
Not only is hadouken a band, but it's most widely known as a term used in street fighter, the video game. It is used most commonly by the character Ryu. It is like an energy-ball type thing and when it hits you, it hurts.
Me thinks the Phantom Planet boys need to get out more.
But, from those fateful YouTube videos, Hadouken has manifested into a term much more widely known among the children of this generation. It is most commonly an interjection, but also can be a noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, and a new greeting.
i.e.
person walking past: Hello.
person walking past that watches phantom planet youtube videos: HADOOOOUUUUUUUKEN!

So, yeah. That's all I got for ya. Sorry.

ALEX GREENWALD IN ALTERNATIVE PRESS AND A DIFFERENT BAND? 12-31-08
Just casually flicking through the latest issue of Alternative Press when I happen upon the Incoming section, which is kind of like a Letters to the Editor kind of thing. But on the same page is the pAParazzi page, which has pictures of fans with their favorite rock stars! I was just like "It's hard to tell who's the fan and who's the rocker if you don't know the band", until of course, at the very bottom it said "Emma Lander with Alex Greenwald from Phantom Planet at Webster Hall in New York City." :D Congrats Emma!
Im other news, there's also a band called Phantom Band. They were on the page that has all the new CDs coming out. I was just skimming so I thought it said Phantom Planet. ^^;
In other news, Fueled By Ramen is soon to release limited-edition vinyl for "all your favorite FBR albums". Hopefully, that means that Phantom Planet will also have a vinyl out for RTD.
Oh, and did I mention that Darren is performing again? ANd with the awesome Puzzle SMashers, Miniature Tigers no less! He will be performing with them from January through March.
I feel like I am forgetting something... Oh yes!
Want pictures from Phantom Planet's "last" show? Want pictures from the afterparty too? Okay! I will bestow them upon you! Click here to get all the Phantom Planet.
Oh, and for all the fans out there freaking out because they "broke up", please visit Darren's myspace to get all the details. myspace.com/youarenotbatman . There has also been a short new video added on their youtube (thanks ~idkrae)

PHANTOM PLANET DROPPED VIDEO 12-25-08
It's finally here! The Dropped video is here! [link]
It is undoubtedly the strangest video they've ever made-and we all know they've made some pretty strange videos.
Just a quickie update for all of you.

PHANTOM PLANET DROPPED VIDEO UPDATE 12-21-08
Before their hiatus, Phantom Planet said that they were going to create a video for "Dropped." After they announced plans for their hiatus many fans were left wondering: Are we still gonna see the video?
As we mentioned in our last news entry, Darren Robinson did say that they were going to release the video.
About an hour ago, one of the members posted a new blog [link] saying a behind-the-scenes look at the new video is available on the site's video player and at [link] . The official release date for the full-length video is December 25th. A great Christmas present for us Phantom Planet fans.
Also, Darren has (sort of) confirmed on his MySpace that the show played at the Troubadour on December 12th was NOT Phantom Planet's last show. He said:

Taken from our "last show"...(Last show my ass! Give us some time.)

As part of a new photo he added on his MySpace.
In other news, "Do The Panic" was on Rolling Stone's Best Singles Of The Year feature, listed as #71. Not bad!
